You haven’t come this far to settle for self-employed but stressed.

You’re going after that freelance dream of working less, earning more, and turning down the jobs that don’t inspire you. But to get there, you need to make some changes to the way you present your business online.

You need a website that does you justice.

Your website is the hotspot potential clients will visit when they’re trying to make a decision.

It should look the part, sure, but it’s the words that really matter. With professional website copy, you’ll…

< 1 >

Feel confident about what you have to offer.

< 2 >

Gain respect and build authority in your industry.

< 3 >

Land higher paying clients and work less for more.

Good website copy looks simple.

When it’s done well, it should trigger a reaction from every target client who lands on your site. But achieving that isn’t easy. It’s about understanding how people feel.

If you’re going to invest in website copy, find a writer who’ll take the time to get to know your target clients.

What happens when you hire me?

< Weeks 1 – 2 >

You’ll have 2 weeks to complete the digital workbook I’ve designed for you. You’ll cover goals, target clients, your why, and your services and packages.

< Week 3 >

I’ll draw up an outline of your site. It’ll cover the pages we’re going to create, what each one will include, and how they’ll all link together. You’ll review it before we move on.

< Week 4 >

I’ll write a complete first draft of your full site. I’ll explore your target clients’ biggest challenges and explain how your services can help them meet their goals.

< Week 5 >

You’ll get a full week to review the first draft and put your feedback together. I usually ask for comments in the same Word/Google  Doc that I sent the first draft in.

< Week 6 >

I’ll implement your feedback and then present a second draft to you so we can iron out any last minute tweaks. Afterwards, I’ll be available to liaise with your designer.

What’s it like working with me?

“Working with Sophie is like having a little wordsmith in your head pulling out everything you’re trying to say and making sense of the jumble of ideas you’ve got whirring around.

I initially asked Sophie to review my web copy and was expecting a few edits, but she went above and beyond the brief and completely rewrote it in a much more customer-focused manner.

I soon hired her again to review my social media profiles as she totally gets who I am and more importantly who my customer is, and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again should the opportunity arise.

Sophie is like a breath of fresh air; she’s super friendly and down to earth to work with, and goes the extra mile to build a great relationship with her clients. She’s now a valued friend as well as my go-to copywriter.” Emma Read

ARE YOU READY TO START BUILDING  YOUR BUSINESS 2.0?

Still got questions? I’ve answered some common ones here.

What comes first, website design or website copy?
Ideally the copy. It’s difficult to know how much space you’ll need or how things should be laid out when you don’t know what you’re going to say. It’s the message that’s important here. Having said that, I can work the other way around, so if you’ve already started on the design, don’t worry.
What will you need from me to get started?
We’ll start off with a chat on the phone. You’ll get the chance to talk me through your business and your current situation, and ask any questions you might have.

Once we decide to go ahead, I’ll ask you to sign an agreement (nothing scary, don’t worry) and pay 50% deposit upfront.

From there, you’ll get access to a digital workbook. It’s full of questions and prompts that will prompt you to give me everything I need. If you need help with anything, I’ll always be on the other end of an email.

Will my website copy be optimised for search engines?
Sure. I’ll conduct basic keyword research when I’m putting together the outline for your site. There’ll be one target keyword for each page, as well as the copy for a Google results page heading and description.

Your website copy will be formatted with search engines in mind, though writing quality content that’s targeted at humans will be the priority. (And that’s all that Google’s after, really.)

Will I get a chance to review what you've written?
Of course. I want this process to be as collaborative as possible. You’ll get a complete first draft of the entire website to review. After I’ve implemented your feedback, I’ll send you a second complete draft for review. If you have any final comments or suggestions, I’ll make a second round of edits before you sign off.
How long does it take?
Roughly 6 weeks. The process is outlined above.

In short:

Weeks 1 + 2: You complete the workbook.

Week 3: I’ll create the outline and ask you to approve it.

Week 4: I’ll write the first draft.

Week 5: You’ll review the first draft.

Week 6: I’ll implement your feedback and we’ll then work together to iron out any final changes.

Afterwards, I’ll still be here to offer support as you work with your designer to get the site live.

What do I get at the end?

At the end of the process you’ll have:

  • A workbook that outlines the why and who behind your business
  • A visual outline that you can discuss with your web designer
  • One document, clearly formatted, that contains all the copy for your new website
  • In the same document, an SEO bundle for each page (keyword, Google results header and description)
  • My continued support as you work with your web designer to get your site live
Do you offer a payment plan?

Yes. I ask for 50% payment upfront, 40% on delivery of the first draft, and the remaining 10% on completion. Since the whole process will take around 6 weeks, that means you get to spread the cost across two months.

When can you start?

I’m currently taking bookings for February 2019 onwards. I ask for 50% deposit upfront to secure a slot in advance. Once I receive that, you’ll get your workbook so you can get straight to work.
